Description of Services Provided
The Exploratorium LLC summer camps provide immersive STEM-based educational experiences focused on science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). These camps are single-skill-focused in the areas of robotics, hands-on scientific exploration, live action and virtual reality simulations, and AI programming. The program does not offer general child care services but instead provides structured instructional activities designed to develop critical thinking, problem-solving, and technology literacy required for careers in STEM.
Scientific Exploration: Students engage in hands-on experiments that teach the scientific method, hypothesis testing, data collection, and analysis. Activities such as chemistry experiments, physics demonstrations, and environmental science investigations allow students to apply theoretical concepts in a controlled, real-world setting.
Live Action and Virtual Reality Simulations: The program incorporates both physical and virtual simulations to enhance learning. Live-action problem-solving exercises, such as simulated space missions and the Earth Accord Game, help students understand real-world applications of STEM. Virtual reality (VR) simulations provide immersive experiences in fields like astronomy, biology, and engineering, allowing students to interact with scientific environments beyond traditional classroom settings.
Robotics: Students design, build, and program robots to perform specific tasks, reinforcing key principles of engineering, mechanics, and computer science. This hands-on approach strengthens students’ understanding of automation, coding, and problem-solving, skills essential for careers in robotics and engineering.
AI Programming: Students learn the fundamentals of artificial intelligence, including machine learning concepts, data science, and algorithm development. They engage in coding activities that teach them how AI processes information, makes decisions, preparing them for emerging career fields in technology and data analysis.
Each of these activities directly supports STEM learning objectives and helps students develop the analytical, computational, and innovative thinking skills necessary for success in STEM-related fields.
